Red Rock Canyon Open Space Trail Day: Whale Tail Area

The City of Colorado Springs, in conjunction with PPCA, is putting on a trail day on May 20th to improve access at the Whale Tail area. We are looking for 12 volunteers, two crews of six each, to help with installing timber check dams, bringing the eroded gulley up to grade with soil, and revegetating the gulley and installing rock steps leading from the climbing gate. Depending on how much is accomplished, there could be an option to particiapte in a second trail day at a later date, though  it is not required. Tentative time for this event is 8-4, though a final time is TBD. Snacks and some water will be provided by the PPCA, please plan to bring your own lunch and water. Closed toed shoes and long pants are required. Be sure to bring sun and eye protection. Gloves will be supplied, but if you have a pair please feel free to bring them. More info will be sent out after you sign up.
